US festival to screen Iran documentary ‘Starless Dreams’

Iranian documentary film ‘Starless Dreams’ will be screened at a film festival in the US state of Colorado.

Acclaimed Iranian documentary film ‘Starless Dreams’, directed by Mehrdad Oskouei, is to be screened at a film festival in the US state of Colorado.

The screening of Oskui’s documentary ‘Starless Dreams’ will take place at the 2nd annual ACT Human Rights Film Festival, which will be held in the US city of Fort Collins, Colorado, from April 14-21.

The 76-minute documentary shows young women in an Iranian juvenile detention center reflecting on the crimes they have committed and the circumstances that have shaped their lives.

‘Starless Dreams’ has grabbed a number of prestigious awards and titles from various film events around the world.

In 2016, the film won the Amnesty International Film Prize at the 66th Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlinale in Germany as well as the True Vision Award at the 13th True/False Film Festival in the US.

The ACT Human Rights Film Festival is produced by the Department of Communication Studies at Colorado State University, and seeks to awaken, connect, and transform individuals and communities.

Commenting on the film, the author of a published synopsis for the flick on the festival’s website  writes, "As a reminder of just how vital the hope for a better life is to individuals who have been deprived of comforts that many audiences take for granted, Starless Dreams is a stunning, unforgettable cinematic experience."
